CARA MENGENDALIKAN DAN MERUBAH PERASAAN

Mengapa kita harus mengendalikan perasaan kita?Ada hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa manusia mempunyai sebanyak 60.000 pikiran dalam sehari. Tentu tidak mudah untuk memilah pikiran mana yang positif dan mana yang negatif dari sekian puluh ribu pikiran tersebut.
Ada cara yang paling mudah untuk mengetahui pikiran mana yang positif dan pikiran mana yang negatif yaitu lewat PERASAAN (EMOSI).Bob Doyle – salah satu tokoh dalam film The Secret – mengatakan bahwa emosi adalah hadiah yang luar biasa, yang membuat kita mengetahui apa yang kita pikir. Intinya jika perasaan kita senang, gembira, bersyukur berarti pikiran kita sedang berada di area yang positif. Jika perasaan kita sedih, cemas, gelisah, takut, iri hati, dlsbnya berarti pikiran kita sedang berada di area yang negatif.
Perasaan “GOOD” –> Berpikir yang “GOOD” –> Menarik hal-hal yang “GOOD”Perasaan “BAD” –> Berpikir yang “BAD” –> Menarik hal-hal yang “BAD”Perasaan yang baik akan menghasilkan pikiran yang baik. Pikiran yang baik diwujudkan dalam bentuk perkataan dan perbuatan yang baik. Perkataan dan perbuatan yang baik jika dilakukan secara rutin akan menjadi kebiasaan yang baik. Kebiasaan yang baik ini akan membentuk watak/ karakter yang baik pula. Dan inilah yang menentukan masa depan kita.
Kira-kira begitu cara kerjanya.Contoh : Jika pagi hari kita bangun dengan perasaan / mood yang negatif karena habis dimarahi atasan pada hari sebelumnya, maka pikiran kita kurang lebih akan berkata : “Ah, hari ini saya malas kekantor. Terlambat sedikit ga pa pa lah.”, “Hari ini saya ijin saja karena lagi ga mood.”, ataupun jika tetap berangkat ke kantor maka dilakukan dengan setengah hati.
Sesampai di kantor, jika mood initetap dipertahankan maka perkataan dan perbuatan di kantor pasti akan negatif, misalnya : gosip menjelekkan atasan, menjelekkan kondisi perusahaan, dll. Jika perbuatan dan perkataan ini tetap dipertahankan selama seminggu maka akan menjadi kebiasaan. Jika tidak gossip menjelekkan atasan, rekan kerja, perusahaan rasanya seperti ada yang kurang. Lebih mudah untuk membentuk karakter yang negatif daripada yang positif. Setelah ini menjadi karakter yang negatif, maka bisa dipastikan kita akan diperhatikan oleh orang lain (atasan, rekan kerja, bawahan).
Anda kemudian bisa menjawab sendiri, masa depan orang tersebut kira-kira seperti apa?! Padahal awal mulanya hanya dari “perasaan”.Pikiran dan Perasaan Anda membentuk hidup Anda. Akan selalu begini. Pasti! – Lisa Nichols.

Cara merubah perasaan kita!

1. Merubah GERAK
Coba Anda praktekkan ketika bangun pagi, Anda merasa malas untuk bangun, walaupun mata masih tertutup, Anda paksakan bangun (JANGAN LUPA UNTUK S.E.N.Y.U.M. dan BERSYUKUR terlebih dahulu) dan lakukan lompat-lompat kecil selama 10-15 menit. Kira-kira setelah itu Anda akan lanjut tidur lagi? NO, Anda akan langsung ke kamar mandi untuk bersiap-siap ke kantor. Alasan : karena gerak yang Anda lakukan merangsang aliran darah untuk lebih lancar mengalir ke seluruh pembuluh darah dalam tubuh dan ke otak dan membuka pori-pori tubuh untuk mengeluarkan keringat.Gerak tubuh orang bersemangat bisa Anda bedakan dari gerak tubuh orang yang tidak bersemangat. Jadi jika Anda sedang tidak bersemangat, coba ubah gerak tubuh Anda menyerupai gerak tubuh orang yang bersemangat : berjalan cepat, kepala tidak menunduk, dada membusung, senyum. Ini akan membuat perasaan Anda dari tidak bersemangat menjadi bersemangat (lebih ceria).

2. Merubah FOKUS
Coba Anda lakukan hal ini ketika Anda sedang merasa negatif / bad mood : Ubah fokus kita ke hal-hal atau pengalaman-pengalaman yang menyenangkan / lucu / gembira / positif. Saya selalu membayangkan keberhasilan-keberhasilan yang telah saya capai di masa lampau dan kegembiraan-kegembiraan karena kesuksesan yang akan saya capai di masa yang akan datang jika pikiran dan perasaan saya sedang negatif. Dengan demikian, saya akan kembali terinspirasi dan termotivasi untuk kembali mengejar impian saya walaupun sempat gagal di tengah jalan.GAMPANG-GAMPANG SUSAH untuk melakukan hal ini. Tetapi ingat, awalnya hanya dari “perasaan” dan berkembang menjadi kebiasaan. Jika kita lakukan secara konsisten hal ini, maka ini dapat menjadi kebiasaan kita dan kita akan lebih mudah untuk merubah perasaan kita.

3. Merubah SUARA INTERNAL
Bayangkan ketika Anda menemani anak menonton film kartun dan mendengar suara Donald Duck yang khas “wekkk…wekkk…wekkk…”. Mungkin Anda akan turut tertawa atau tersenyum.Merubah suara interal berarti merubah suara yang bagi kita terasa tidak mengenakkan (misalkan umpatan, makian, teguran dari atasan, klien, konsumen, rekan kerja, teman, dlsbnya) menjadi suara yangterdengar lucu bagi kita. Suara yang terasa lucu bagi kita, misalkan suara Donald Duck yang khas, suara orang berbicara gagap / terputus-putus, suara pria yang dibuat mirip wanita, ataupun suara-suara lainnya yang menurutpengalaman Anda masing-masing lucu. Dengan demikian akan merubah suasana hati menjadi lebih positif dan bersemangat kembali.

4. Merubah ARTI
Anda mungkin pernah membaca di surat kabar bahwa tingkat pengangguran yang tinggi dan kehidupan ekonomi yang semakin sulit menyebabkan banyak orang bunuh diri.YES, Anda yang memberi arti terhadap hidup Anda. Jika si A menganggap dirinya miskin segala-galanya, tidur di kolong jembatan, tidak punya keluarga, makan dari sisa-sisa pemberian orang, dihina orang, cacat fisik, dsbnya, kira-kira menurut Anda apakah yang akan dilakukan oleh si A? Lebih mungkin dia akan mengambil jalan pintas untuk bunuh diri.Tetapi bandingkan dengan si B, dengan kondisi yang sama, tetapi dia memberi arti lain bagi hidupnya. “Hari-hari seperti ini sudah cukup. Saya harus mau berusaha lebih keras dan menghargai diri saya sehingga orang lain mau menghargai saya juga.” Dengan arti yang diberikan oleh si B, kemungkinan dia untuk maju akan lebih terbuka.

5. Merubah SUASANA
Pelatihan di alam terbuka akan membawa suasana dan hasil yang berbeda dibandingkan dengan pelatihan di dalam ruangan. Tempat dan suasana yang berbeda dari rutinitas sehari-hari bisa memberikan dampak yang berbeda.Contoh : jika sehari-hari berada dan bekerja di kantor, maka cobalah pada hari libur untuk mencari suasana yang berbeda. Ini berguna untuk menyegarkan kembali suasana hati kita dan untuk pemulihan sel-sel tubuh (fisik) kita.Staff saya bahkan menyempatkan diri di sela-sela kesibukannya untuk bersantai dan merubah suasana hati di lounge airport terminal internasional J Dengan begitu, menurut pengakuannya, sekembalinya daritempat tersebut, suasana hati menjadi lebih bersemangat dan positif. Entah mengapa? Mungkin ada pengalaman yang menyenangkan / positif yang berhubungan dengan tempat tersebut.Sayapun suka membawa staff saya untuk pelatihan di alam terbuka (enam bulan sekali). Terbukti, bahwa setelah kembali dari pelatihan, semangat dan motivasi menjadi lebih terpacu. Silahkan dicoba!

6. Merubah INPUT
Ketika Anda bersama keluarga menonton acara televisi : BUSER, PATROLI, SERGAP, SMACK DOWN, dlsbnya, kira-kira apa komentar umum yang terlontar? “Koq, para penjahat tambah sadis ya?”, “Koq kota kita tambah ga aman ya?”, “Koq orang-orang jadi pada ga punya hati nurani ya?”. Akibatnya apa? Pikiran yang negatif mempengaruhi perasaan kita menjadi negatif.Ubah perasaan kita menjadi positif dengan mendengarkan lagu-lagu perjuangan, motivasi : I Have A Dream – Westlife, The Power Of The Dream – Celine Dion, We Are The Champion – Queen, dlsbnya. Baca buku-buku motivasi dan pengembangan diri. Bacanya jangan `Lampu Merah’ melulu. Ikut seminar, klub, organisasi, kursus untuk pengembangan kepribadian dan bersosialisasi.Dengan mengubah input yang masuk, kita memprogram ulang pikiran dan perasaan kita untuk menjadi lebih baik.

Kisah Malaikat Jibril AS dengan Kerbau, Kelelawar serta Cacing tentang rasa syukur

Suatu hari Allah SWT memerintahkan malaikat Jibri AS untuk pergi menemui salah satu makhluk-Nya yaitu kerbau dan menanyakan pada si kerbau apakah dia senang telah diciptakan Allah SWT sebagai seekor kerbau. Malaikat Jibril AS segera pergi menemui si Kerbau.
Di siang yang panas itu si kerbau sedang berendam di sungai. Malaikat Jibril AS mendatanginya kemudian mulai bertanya kepada si kerbau, “hai kerbau apakah kamu senang telah dijadikan oleh Allah SWT sebagai seekor kerbau”. Si kerbau menjawab, “Masya Allah, alhamdulillah, aku bersyukur kepada Allah SWT yang telah menjadikan aku sebagai seekor kerbau, dari pada aku dijadikan-Nya sebagai seekor kelelawar yang ia mandi dengan kencingnya sendiri”. Mendengar jawaban itu Malaikat Jibril AS segera pergi menemui seekor kelelawar.
Malaikat Jibril AS mendatanginya seekor kelelawar yang siang itu sedang tidur bergantungan di dalam sebuah goa. Kemudian mulai bertanya kepada si kelelawar, “hai kelelawar apakah kamu senang telah dijadikan oleh Allah SWT sebagai seekor kelelawar”. “Masya Allah, alhamdulillah, aku bersyukur kepada Allah SWT yang telah menjadikan aku sebagai seekor kelelawar dari pada aku dijadikan-Nya seekor cacing. Tubuhnya kecil, tinggal di dalam tanah, berjalannya saja menggunakan perutnya”, jawab si kelelawar. Mendengar jawaban itu pun Malaikat Jibril AS segera pergi menemui seekor cacing yang sedang merayap di atas tanah.
Malaikat Jibril AS bertanya kepada si cacing, “Wahai cacing kecil apakah kamu senang telah dijadikan Allah SWT sebagai seekor cacing”. Si cacing menjawab, ” Masya Allah, alhamdulillah, aku bersyukur kepada Allah SWT yang telah menjadikan aku sebagai seekor cacing, dari pada dijadikaan-Nya aku sebagai seorang manusia. Apabila mereka tidak memiliki iman yang sempurna dan tidak beramal sholih ketika mereka mati mereka akan disiksa selama-lamanya”.

Sepenggal kisah Iblis

Dalam sebuah kitab karangan Imam al-Ghazali menyebutkan bahawa iblis itu sesungguhnya namanya disebut sebagai al-Abid (ahli ibadah) pada langit yang pertama, pada langit yang keduanya disebut az-Zahid. Pada langit ketiga, namanya disebut al-Arif. Pada langit keempat, namanya adalah al-Wali. Pada langit kelima, namanya disebut at-Taqi. Pada langit keenam namanya disebut al-Kazin. Pada langit ketujuh namanya disebut Azazil manakala dalam Luh Mahfudz, namanya ialah iblis.
Dia (iblis) lupa akibat urusannya. Maka Allah S.W.T telah memerintahkannya sujud kepada Adam. Lalu iblis berkata, “Adakah Engkau mengutamakannya daripada aku, sedangkan aku lebih baik daripadanya. Engkau jadikan aku daripada api dan Engkau jadikan Adam daripada tanah.”
Lalu Allah S.W.T berfirman yang maksudnya, “Aku membuat apa yang aku kehendaki.” Oleh kerana iblis memandang dirinya penuh keagungan, maka dia enggan sujud kepada Adam A.S kerana bangga dan sombong.
Dia berdiri tegak sampai saatnya malaikat bersujud dalam waktu yang berlalu. Ketika para malaikat mengangkat kepala mereka, mereka mendapati iblis tidak sujud sedang mereka telah selesai sujud. Maka para malaikat bersujud lagi bagi kali kedua kerana bersyukur, tetapi iblis tetap angkuh dan enggan sujud. Dia berdiri tegak dan memaling dari para malaikat yang sedang bersujud. Dia tidak ingin mengikut mereka dan tidak pula dia merasa menyesal atas keengganannya.

Kemudian Allah S.W.T merubahkan mukanya pada asalnya yang sangat indah cemerlangan kepada bentuk seperti babi hutan. Allah S.W.T membentukkan kepalanya seperti kepala unta, dadanya seperti daging yang menonjol di atas punggung, wajah yang ada di antara dada dan kepala itu seperti wajah kera, kedua matanya terbelah pada sepanjang permukaan wajahnya. Lubang hidungnya terbuka seperti cerek tukang bekam, kedua bibirnya seperti bibir lembu, taringnya keluar seperti taring babi hutan dan janggut terdapat sebanyak tujuh helai.
Setelah itu, lalu Allah mengusirnya dari syurga, bahkan dari langit, dari bumi dan ke beberapa jazirah. Dia tidak akan masuk ke bumi melainkan dengan cara sembunyi. Allah S.W.T melaknatinya sehingga ke hari kiamat kerana dia menjadi kafir. Walaupun iblis itu pada sebelumnya sangat indah cemerlang rupanya, mempunyai sayap emapt, banyak ilmu, banyak ibadah serta menjadi kebanggan para malaikat dan pemukanya, dan dia juga pemimpin para malaikat karubiyin dan banyak lagi, tetapi semua itu tidak menjadi jaminan sama sekali baginya.
Ketika Allah S.W.T membalas tipu daya iblis, maka menangislah Jibril A.S dan Mikail. Lalu Allah S.W.T berfirman yang bermaksud, “Apakah yang membuat kamu menangis?” Lalu mereka menjawab, “Ya Allah! Kami tidaklah aman dari tipu dayamu.”
Firman Allah bagi bermaksud, “Begitulah aku. Jadilah engkau berdua tidak aman dari tipu dayaku.”
Setelah diusir, maka iblis pun berkata, “Ya Tuhanku, Engkau telah mengusir aku dari Syurga disebabkan Adam, dan aku tidak menguasainya melainkan dengan penguasaan-Mu.”
Lalu Allah berfirman yang bermaksud, “Engkau dikuasakan atas dia, yakni atas anak cucunya, sebab para nabi adalah maksum.”
Berkata lagi iblis, “Tambahkanlah lagi untukku.” Allah berfirman yang maksudnya, “Tidak akan dilahirkan seorang anak baginya kecuali tentu dilahirkan untukmu dua padanya.”
Berkata iblis lagi, “Tambahkanlah lagi untukku.” Lalu Allah berfirman dengan maksud, “Dada-dada mereka adalah rumahmu, engkau berjalan di sana sejalan dengan peredaran darah.”
Berkata iblis lagi, “Tambahkanlah lagi untukku.” Maka Allah berfirman lagi yang bermaksud, “Dan kerahkanlah terhadap mereka pasukan berkuda dan pasukan yang berjalan kaki, ertinya mintalah tolong menghadapi mereka dengan pembantu-pembantumu, baik yang naik kuda mahupun yang berjalan kaki. Dan berserikatlah dengan mereka pada harta, iaitu mendorong mereka mengusahakannya dan mengarahkannya ke dalam haram.”
“Dan pada anak-anak, iaitu dengan menganjurkan mereka dalam membuat perantara mendapat anak dengan cara yang dilarang, seperti melakukan senggama dalam masa haid, berbuat perkara-perkara syirik mengenai anak-anak itu dengan memberi nama mereka Abdul Uzza, menyesatkan mereka dengan cara mendorong ke arah agama yang batil, mata pencarian yang tercela dan perbuatan-perbuatan yang jahat dan berjanjilah mereka.” (Hal ini ada disebutkan dalamsurah al-Isra ayat 64 yang bermaksud : “Gerakkanlah orang yang engkau kuasai di antara mereka dengan suara engkau dan kerahkanlah kepada mereka tentera engkau yang berkuda dan yang berjalan kaki dan serikanlah mereka pada harta dan anak-anak dan berjanjilah kepada mereka. Tak ada yang dijanjikan iblis kepada mereka melainkan (semata-mata) tipuan.”

Stoner secures first win of 2010 at Aragón

The Australian tasted success in the Gran Premio A-Style de Aragón on Sunday ahead of Dani Pedrosa, as Nicky Hayden scored his first podium of the campaign after edging a fine battle with Jorge Lorenzo for third.

Casey Stoner took his first victory of the 2010 campaign at Aragón on Sunday, converting his pole position at the Spanish circuit into a well-deserved win. The Ducati Team rider finished 5.148s ahead of Dani Pedrosa, with Nicky Hayden completing the podium for his first top-three result of the year after a magnificent last-lap overtake on Jorge Lorenzo.
Starting from pole Stoner held his position going into the first turn, but usual rapid starter Pedrosa dropped to fifth as the riders bunched up in the tight opening curve. The Repsol Honda rider fought back in the early stages of the race however to climb to second behind Stoner, and the gap between the two fluctuated throughout.
The pair were consistently fast for the duration of the race but Stoner managed to pull away towards the end as he achieved what was eventually a comfortable 25 points, with Pedrosa maintaining his good form in second.
There were battles all the way through the field and none more entertaining than that between Hayden and Championship leader Lorenzo for the final podium spot. A fearless overtake on Lorenzo by Hayden on the final lap delivered the American the honours, and ended the Fiat Yamaha rider’s record of having placed on the rostrum at every race so far this season.
Ben Spies (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) notched another impressive result with fifth place as he resisted the challenge of Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda), who crashed out on the final lap whilst pushing hard in their contest.
Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha) rounded off a tough weekend in sixth place, whilst rookies Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Álvaro Bautista (Rizla Suzuki) completed the top eight with solid displays. Marco Melandri (San Carlo Honda Gresini) and Aleix Espargaró (Pramac Racing) took top-ten finishes, whilst Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda) escaped injury when he crashed out on lap 16.
Lorenzo’s advantage at the top of the Championship was cut to 56 points and he now stands on 284 points, with Pedrosa on 228 in second. Stoner’s victory lifts him to third on 155, with Rossi staying fourth and Dovizioso dropping to fifth.

Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake is a fictional character in the Naruto manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. Kishimoto originally planned to introduce Kakashi in the manga to the series' titular character, Naruto Uzumaki, early on, but pushed back this meeting so that Naruto's teammates could be better developed.
In the story, Kakashi is the leader and teacher of Team 7, consisting of the series' primary characters, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Naruto Uzumaki. He is initially portrayed as a detached and apathetic figure, but as the series progresses, his loyalty to his friends and students becomes increasingly apparent. Kakashi's past has been extensively explored in the series, resulting in a gaiden being devoted to his past experiences. Kakashi has appeared in several pieces of Naruto media, including three of the four featured films in the series, all of the original video animations, and several video games.
Numerous anime and manga publications have praised and criticized Kakashi's character. Although he has been noted to be an echo of similar detached shōnen manga characters, the duality of Kakashi's apathetic and serious sides have been praised. Kakashi's popularity has been noted by reviewers; T.H.E.M. Anime Reviews commented that the series could simply be renamed "Kakashi." Kakashi has been highly popular with the Naruto reader base, placing high in several popularity polls Merchandise based on Kakashi has also been released, including key chains and plush dolls.

Creation and conception

Masashi Kishimoto originally intended for Kakashi to debut in the second chapter of the Naruto manga, appearing prior to the other members of Team 7. This Kakashi was designed as a laid back, affected, skilled ninja that ended his sentences with the polite "de gozaru" in the Japanese versions of the series. After speaking with his editor, Kishimoto pushed this debut back, allowing him to better develop Kakashi and the rest of Team 7. Despite this, Kakashi retains many of his original personality traits, being easygoing, unfazed by the actions of others, and appearing to be half-asleep. Kishimoto feels that this makes Kakashi a compelling leader and helps to keep the diverse members of Team 7 unified. Because he acts as a link between the other main characters of the series, Kakashi is rarely featured prominently in promotional artwork, instead appearing in the background while his students are the focus of the scene In an interview in Shōnen Jump's, Kishimoto said that if he were to make an extra story from the manga with a different character, such character would be Kakashi.
When deciding upon Kakashi's name, Kishimoto considered a number of possibilities: Kuwa ("hoe"), Kama ("scythe"), Botan ("peony"), Enoki (a nettle tree), and Kakashi ("scarecrow"). He eventually decided upon Kakashi, and remains glad that he did to this day. In keeping with the meaning of his name, scarecrows are occasionally used to represent Kakashi; Naruto, for example, uses a scarecrow that is dressed like Kakashi to help him train for a combat test between the two. Likewise, scarecrows are at times added to the background of scenes in which Kakashi appears, as is the case with the cover of the Naruto manga volume three.

Character outline

Background

Kakashi's background goes unexplored for the first part of the series, not being shown in any detail until Kakashi Gaiden, a six chapter series that divides the gap between Part I and II of the manga. During Kakashi's youth, his father, a ninja who was highly revered in Konohagakure, abandoned a mission crucial to the village in order to save the lives of his teammates. Disgraced by the villagers and those he had saved because of the repercussions the village suffered, Kakashi's father committed suicide. Wishing to avoid his father's dishonor, Kakashi adopted the philosophy that the success of a mission must always come first, becoming humorless and by-the-book in the process.
In later years Kakashi was assigned by his teacher, Minato Namikaze, to lead a mission that would turn the current war in Konoha's favor. When his teammate, Rin, was captured by enemy ninja, Kakashi elected to leave her behind and finish the mission. His other teammate, Obito Uchiha, rejected this alternative, stating that those who abandon their mission are trash but those who abandon their teammates are worse than trash and that Kakashi's father had done the right thing by saving his teammates. Touched by Obito's words, Kakashi joined him in a rescue effort, though his left eye became damaged in the ensuing battle. After finding Rin and preparing to escape, an enemy-induced cave-in crushed Obito's right half. With his dying wish and the possibility of enemy reinforcements, Obito urged his teammates to leave and finish the mission. Before leaving, Obito had Rin implant his newly acquired Sharingan into Kakashi's damaged eye socket as a gift. His new eye in place, Kakashi fled with Rin as the cave collapsed, eventually completing their mission and forever mourning Obito's death.

Personality

Obito's death greatly changed Kakashi, as he adopted many of Obito's traits and philosophies. Most recurring of these is his concept of teamwork: when first forming Team 7, Kakashi gauges their abilities with a bell test in which the three must capture the two bells he keeps on his person. Only by working as a team, regardless of the fact that there aren't enough bells for each of them, are Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke able to pass, instilling in them the concept of teamwork early on. Kakashi continues to further this philosophy for the duration of Part I upon Sasuke Uchiha, whose drive to get stronger causes him to slowly turn against his friends and teammates. Though Kakashi frequently reminds Sasuke of the importance of teamwork and tries to show him how strength can be found in friendship, he is unable to get through to him before the latter's defection from Konoha
^.Kakashi keeps his personal life separate from his interactions with his students, only going so far as to say that he has a number of hobbies and dreams that are "none of [their] business". He also states that everyone precious to him is dead. What is known of Kakashi's personal life is that he spends much of his free time at a memorial site where Obito's name is engraved. He tends to lose track of time when he is there, and is frequently late to his appointments as a result (another trait adopted from Obito). Similarly, Kakashi constantly keeps the lower half of his face covered, and thus the appearance of his face remains a mystery. Episode 101 of the anime, an omake episode dedicated to Team 7's efforts to unmask Kakashi, implies he is quite handsome, as two employees from the Ichiraku ramen shop (male and female) are left awestruck after he briefly removes his mask to eat (although a distraction prevents Team 7 and the viewer from seeing his face). In another omake included with the third Naruto databook, his own pack of dogs struggles with remembering what he looks like: each remembers him as having a completely different face and, after they finally agree about what he looks like, they realize that their description was entirely wrong.
One pastime that Kakashi makes no attempt to hide from even his students is his fondness for the Make Out (, Icha Icha) series of erotic novels. The books, detailing the author's (Jiraiya) experiences in love, are runaway best-sellers within the Naruto world. When asked more specifically about the contents of the books, Masashi Kishimoto explained that Naruto's target demographic was not old enough for him to disclose the details of the plot. Kakashi is usually seen reading one of the books during events that do not require his complete attention, such as his early conversations and training sessions with Team 7. Naruto has on occasion used Kakashi's attachment to the books against him; he threatens to spoil the ending of the latest installment in the series, forcing Kakashi to shut his eyes and cover his ears to avoid learning the secret and leaving him off guard in the process.

Abilities

Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan.

The Sharingan given to him by Obito is a sticking point to Kakashi's fame in the Naruto world. Granting him the ability to mimic the movements and jutsu of others, the Sharingan gives him an edge in battle by allowing him to turn his opponent's abilities against them. This has allowed him to add over one thousand different attacks to his repertoire, leading to his nickname of "Copy Ninja Kakashi" (, Kopī Ninja no Kakashi). Because the Sharingan only naturally occurs in those of Uchiha lineage, and because his is always active, Kakashi depletes his energy quickly when using it and so must cover it with his headband during his daily activities. During the gap in time between Part I and II of the series, Kakashi develops a Mangekyo Sharingan through unknown means. With it he can perform a jutsu called Kamui (, literally "God's Authority"), which sends any targeted object to another dimension. Because performing this ability requires extended bed rest afterwards, Kakashi avoids using it unless absolutely necessary.

Although most of Kakashi's abilities were acquired with his Sharingan, he has two abilities he developed by himself. Lightning Blade, a collection of lightning chakra in one's hand, was created by Kakashi in his youth. By rushing at the enemy and thrusting the Lightning Blade into his target, he can kill most opponents with one strike. He was not able to effectively utilize the Lightning Blade until gaining his Sharingan, as regular eyes experience a tunnel-vision effect when using it and thus leaving the user open to counterattacks. In Part II he displays other lightning-based abilities, such as a clone that can act in his place and paralyze what it comes into contact with, but it is unclear if these are his own creations.
His second unique ability is the pack of eight ninja dogs ( Ninken) he is able to summon to his side. The dogs are capable of talking. Each one has a henohenomoheji on his back, a face used on scarecrows. He primarily uses them for tracking purposes, sending them out to find and if necessary pin down a target until he arrives. Because of his proficiency and well-roundedness with ninja abilities, Kakashi is noted to be an obvious candidate for the position of Hokage, the protector of Konoha, should the position ever become vacant.^[39]

Plot overview

Kakashi's role in the series predominately consists of his time with Team 7, leading them on missions and training them to improve their ninja abilities. He takes a special interest in Sasuke Uchiha during Part I, who he trains exclusively in an attempt to steer him away from Orochimaru, an enemy to Konoha. His efforts prove unsuccessful when Sasuke defects from Konoha at the end of Part I. Naruto and Sakura also part ways at this time, leaving Kakashi's tutelage to train under new teachers. Two-and-a-half years later in Part II, Kakashi reforms Team 7 with Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and Yamato. He assists and leads the new Team 7 in their continued efforts to find and retrieve Sasuke, but with each attempt Sasuke has eluded them. Because his students are now capable of taking care of themselves, Kakashi takes a more active role in the battles that go on during the series, particularly those with the criminal organization Akatsuki. When the Akatsuki leader, Pain, invades Konoha, Kakashi engages him in battle but he is defeated and killed. However, after his confrontation with Naruto, Pain decides to use all of his remaining power to revive all those killed in the battle at Konoha, including Kakashi. He later finds and decides to engage Sasuke in battle having realized he has become a menace.

Appearances in other media

Kakashi has made several appearances outside of the Naruto anime and manga. He is in three of the featured films in the series: in the first movie he battles Nadare Rouga and later defeats him, in the third Kakashi battles the hired ninja Ishidate, whom he fights to a standstill, and he later acts as a distraction for his team by battling the minister Shabadaba's soldiers, and in the fourth Naruto movie Kakashi fights against a large group of stone soldiers. He is also present in all three of the original video animations produced for the series, helping Naruto and Konohamaru Sarutobi to find a four leaf clover in the first original video animation, joining his team in escorting a ninja named Shibuki to his village in the second, and participating in a tournament in the third.
Kakashi is a playable character in nearly all Naruto video games, including the Clash of Ninja series and the Ultimate Ninja series.^[49][50][51] In some games, he is able to use his Sharingan in combat, often as a different character with the ability activated, and in other games, he is available in his ANBU attire.

Reception

Kakashi has ranked within the top five characters in every official Weekly Shōnen Jump popularity poll, acquiring the first position as the most popular character several times. In the most recent poll, he ranked second, with Sasuke Uchiha acquiring the top position. There has not been another official poll since the poll as of 2006. In the Anime Awards 2006 from About.com, Kakashi won in the category "Best Supporting Male Character". He was also a nominee during the first "Nickelodeon Magazine Comics Awards" in the category "Best Hair in Comics", losing to Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. In an Oricon poll of "manga master", Kakashi was third with 8.4% of the votes. In an interview, Dave Wittenberg, who does the voice acting for Kakashi in the English dub, comments that he feels he is similar to the character since he tends to have one eye open at a time and he becomes angry if he is interrupted while reading. He also added that what he likes most about Kakashi is his relation with his students, noting him to be "a very nice person". Merchandise based on Kakashi's character has also been released, including plush dolls, key chains, and a limited edition figurine.
Several publications for manga, anime, video games, and other related media have provided praise and criticism on Kakashi's character. IGN noted the duality of Kakashi's serious persona in combat and his laid back, apathetic countenance when dealing with his students, but accepted that he is one of the most popular characters in the series. They also commented that Kakashi is one of the more popular characters they have seen cosplayed at anime conventions. Active Anime celebrated Kakashi's abilities, noting that he fell into the overall theme of characters hiding detailed personalities and secrets. T.H.E.M. Anime Reviews derided Kakashi as a stereotypical "Man of Mystery" seen in other shōnen manga, but praised him as being "much more interesting" than the three main characters, and felt that for all intents and purposes, the show could be renamed simply "Kakashi". Mania Entertainment's Dani Moure likes how Kakashi fits into Team 7 due to the fact he is a "hilarious character in that sometimes he doesn't seem all that bothered about things and yet is so masterful of his craft." Chris Beveridge from the site stated that Kakashi is his favorite character from the series because of his personality and praised his fight against Pain, and that after its ending, the character gets "a very humanizing moment", making the episode from the battle stand out.
